John Tang Nian

John Tang Nian is a career banker with over 42 years of experience at Republic Bank Ltd., where he retired in 2010. During his tenure, he held several senior management roles, including General Manager of Corporate Operations and Process Improvement, where he was responsible for operational risk management and the group’s AML/CFT compliance. He also served as General Manager of the Corporate Business Division, overseeing the bank’s Corporate Credit and Business Division.

As a member of Republic Bank’s Executive Management Team, John gained extensive expertise in strategic planning, financial and credit analysis, and management accounting. He holds a Diploma in Business Management from the University of the West Indies/Institute of Business and has further honed his skills through prestigious overseas training at the Manchester Business School in the UK and the International Banking Summer School in Dublin, Ireland.

Currently, John serves as the Bankers’ Association of Trinidad & Tobago representative on the board of The Unit Trust Corporation of Trinidad & Tobago. He is also an independent director on the boards of Massy Finance GFC Ltd., JMMB Bank (T&T) Ltd., and East Caribbean Financial Holding Company/Bank of Saint Lucia Ltd., in addition to being the Chairman of the Export Import Bank of Trinidad and Tobago Ltd. (EXIMBANK).

In his leisure time, John enjoys playing golf.
